The UC Davis Institute for Regnerative Cures is opening in November 2009 and will be the hub for stem cell research on our campus, housing over 200 faculty, researchers, staff and trainees. The 109,000 square foot warehouse was once a part of the California Sate Fair. Renovation was made possible through a grant from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM), for $20 million of the $63 million dollars total to complete all three phases of the renovation. Naming opportunities exist for the buidling and for sponsoring the different laboratory areas.

.We are currently renovating this 109,000 square-foot building on the Sacramento campus as our Stem Cell Research Facility. This facility will expediently allow researchers in our group, and other collaborators throughout California, to share state-of-the-art laboratories, cores, and a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Facility for Cellular Therapies. The vivarium is for toxicology testing of human stem cells in immune deficient mice, to obtain safety data for clinical trials. There are two common meeting areas for coffee and idea sharing, which are located directly outside of one large lecture hall/auditorium, and a smaller lecture and conference room. The NIH-funded Clinical Translational Science Center (CTSC) is adjacent, facilitating translation of technologies to the clinic. Each disease team area contains transitional benches for clinical faculty, fellows, and industry partners to perform collaborative, scale-up research within the group.
